It is estimated that 71% of working people in England - approximately 21 million - travel to their place of employment by car.
With more and more traffic on the road, higher fuel costs and the impact on the environment, imagine the possibilities if all of us considered leaving our car at home and using alternative forms of transport to get to work?
Walsall Partnership is doing exactly that by spearheading a new initiative to encourage its employees and residents who work in Walsall to consider walking, cycling, car sharing with a colleague or using public transport to get to work in a special campaign in September.
The campaign, appropriately entitled Travel Differently will take place over seven days, from Monday 14 September to Sunday 20 September 2009.
This website will provide information about what each of our partners is doing to encourage their workforce to try alternative modes of transport to commute to work during that week.
This campaign is in its second and is being backed by our partners and businesses across the Borough, including the Council, the Primary Care Trust, Walsall Housing Group and the Police.
